Huge Crowd Attends Liberty Park Grand Opening Celebration

The Town of Mooresville welcomed a huge crowd to the grand opening of Mooresville’s Liberty Park on Saturday. The event was part of Mooresville’s sesquicentennial celebration.
Kid games, inflatables, activity areas, food and merchandise vendors, strolling movie characters, a Harlem Wizards performance with interactive basketball activities, a Craig Morgan concert, and even stilt walkers made the day memorable.
Located at 255 East Iredell Avenue, the park features a variety of playground equipment, a basketball area, a concert stage, a splash pad, event space, and places to relax with family and/friends.
Town Commissioner Tommy DeWeese said he was pleased with the town’s newest amenity. “They say good things take time,” he said. “And this park is a long time in the making.”
Commissioner Bobby Compton was also excited for the “reimagined” park. “There used to be a carnival area and a Navy war plane in the park,” Compton said. “When I was a kid, there was a baseball field here, and kids used to throw footballs back and forth on the edge of the field.”
Randy Marion Automotive and Lake Norman Regional Medical Center were the main sponsors of the event.
